## π New on the blog
On a whim I decided to dive head first into [Pirate Software's Game Jam](https://itch.io/jam/pirate/rate/2847825) knowing nothing about programming video games! In just under two weeks I made a neat little puzzle concept to fit the theme of __Alchemy and Shadows__.
I learnt a lot from taking part and it wasn't just about learning to code - it was a really good experience to have a small project with creative constraints and I'm going to apply all of what I learnt into my worldbuilding process!
Naturally, this week I wrote a new post all about how to use a game design document but for worldbuilding!
## π Trying new things and finishing them
Most people I know have forever-worlds that they want to continue working on for the rest of their lives - some write stories, some play TTRPGs in them, some do it for tying their art together, others just enjoy it for fun.
For a lot of us, our worlds will never be __finished__.
So how can we get that sense of achievement for finishing something?
>[!info]
>If everything is always a WIP, it's time to aim for "done __for now__".
***I dare you (yes, you) to finish a section of your world π***
- Plan out one area of your world (a region, a culture, a species, a settlement, etc) that you want to be more developed.
- Break it down into a list of ingredients it needs in order for it to be marked as done.
- Write down how long you think it will roughly take you to finish that list.
- Half the list.
Do it.
What things can be saved for another time and which things are absolutely essential in order for that section to be in a more finished state?
- Now how long do you think it will take? Write down this new goal date.
- Half the time. Bring that goal date closer within reach.
- Tell as many people as you can (this includes pets) about your goal so that they can cheer you on and support you - and hold you accountable so you do the thing! You can message me and tell me about your plan, too!
- Now go do the thing! Follow through with your plan!
It's okay if you don't finish all of the things on the list, you can finish them later.
- Don't forget to celebrate your successes when you've finished π₯° focus on all the things you have achieved, not all of the things left to do in your world.
You can do it!
## π΄ Games in worldbuilding
****Worldbuilding prompt:****
What's a well-loved game that's played in your world and how has its popularity changed over time? What were the origins of this game and how do different kinds of people enjoy playing it?
